Long-term outcome of anterior cervical decompression with fusion for cervical ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament including postsurgical remnant ossified spinal lesion
Spine Dec 14, 2019
Nakajima H, et al. - In this retrospective study of 80 individuals with cervical myelopathy towing to ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL), experts intended to evaluate the outcome, perioperative complications, and prognostic factors of anterior cervical decompression and fusion (ACDF) in individuals with cervical OPLL. The long-term clinical outcome of people with cervical OPLL following ACDF was recognized as competent. Thus, surgery-related complications and succeeding segment diseases should not be grounds to circumvent ACDF. Moreover, in choosing ACDF with postsurgical remnant ossified spinal lesion, care should be taken as it could advance postoperatively particularly in the mixed type OPLL.
