Cost and utilization were compared between robotic, laparoscopic, and open resections using propensity score-adjusted negative binomial models. the analysis revealed no achievement of hospital cost-benefit after 90 d in correlation to performing robotic and laparoscopic colorectal cancer resections vs open resections however these were associated with decreased hospital utilization. They commonly observed conversion to open resection with the robotic-to-open conversion rate of 3%, and the laparoscopic-to-open conversion rate of 13%. Efforts should be made to prevent these conversions.
