Piepoli MF, Salvioni E, Corrà U, et al. - In an analysis of the Metabolic Exercise Cardiac Kidney Index (MECKI), experts assessed the prognostic influence of serum uric acid (SUA) on long-term clinical outcomes in heart failure (HF). The relation between SUA and all-cause/cardiovascular deaths were examined in 4,577 individuals, with decreased ejection fraction HF, peakVO₂ 1,151 ± 440 ml/min, and NYHA class I-II, III-IV. SUA was found to be related to enhanced mortality, but only in less severe HF. Nevertheless, SUA did not explicate further prognostic power to the MECKI score.
