Bakir B, et al. - In this retrospective study of prostate multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) studies done between 2012 and 2018, of 1,576 people, of which 134 who also underwent radical prostatectomy following mpMRI, researchers assessed the correlation between the tumor-capsule contact length, described as tumor contact length (TCL), and extraprostatic extension (EPE) using the MRI-based TCL measurements and the real TCL measurements from pathology and to discover whether the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) grade group of the tumors affected this association. It was discovered that ISUP grade groups could have an impact on the TCL-EPE association. Since the MRI-based TCL and EPE association is assessed irrespective of the ISUP grade group, to prognosticate EPE, a cutoff value around 15–16 mm may be useful.
