Sule S, et al. - From the National Health and Nutrition Examination 2007-2014 Surveys, adults with a history of juvenile arthritis (JA) were assessed the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). Researchers identified 232 respondents who reported JA, randomly selected 1,028 without arthritis and identified 1,105 who reported RA. Compared with adults without arthritis, those with a history of JA owned a three-fold increased odds of CAD. These findings emphasize that providers should be informed of the heightened risk of CAD in adults with juvenile arthritis and should aggressively screen these patients for modifiable risk factors.
