LncRNA CASC11 is upregulated in postmenopausal osteoporosis and is correlated with TNF-α

Clinical Interventions in Aging Sep 27, 2019

Yu H, Zhou W, Yan W, et al. - Researchers examined postmenopausal osteoporosis (POP) patients and healthy controls in order to determine the purpose of lncRNA cancer susceptibility 11 (CASC11) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) in POP. Findings revealed the upregulation of CASC11 in POP, as well as its correlation with TNF-α. POP patients were differentiated from healthy controls by upregulated CASC11 and TNF-α. A significant correlation of high CASC11 levels with prolonged treatment course and high recurrence rate was also identified in treatment and follow-up study. Therapy-induced reduction in plasma levels of CASC11 and TNF-α was also evident. Because of CASC11 overexpression, upregulated TNF-α was found in osteoclasts.
