Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Aug 20, 2019
Tareque MI, et al. - Using a nationally representative longitudinal survey of community-dwelling older adults aged 60 years or older (n = 3,452), researchers investigated how self-reported vision and hearing impairment influence years of life with and without limitation in physical function and in activities of daily living (ADLs). This investigation was carried out in Singapore. Findings revealed that years of life with limitation in physical function and in ADLs can potentially be reduced via timely and appropriate management of vision and hearing impairment, particularly when coexisting.
