Dermoscopy of primary cutaneous B- and T-cell lymphomas and pseudolymphomas presenting as solitary nodules and tumors: A case-control study with histopathologic correlation

International Journal of Dermatology Aug 18, 2019

Navarrete-Dechent C, del Puerto C, Abarzúa-Araya A, et al. - In this retrospective, case-control study, researchers characterized the dermoscopic features of primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCL)/pseudolymphoma. The dermoscopic characteristics of patients with solitary PCL/pseudolymphoma tumors were compared to a control group of non-lymphomatous, nonpigmented, solitary tumors (eg, basal cell carcinoma, amelanotic melanoma, etc). Study participants included 14 patients with PCL/pseudolymphomas and 35 controls. The proportions of T-cell and B-cell lymphoma were 28.6% and 71.4%, respectively. Most lymphomas were described as orange color, follicular plugs, and as organized lesions vs controls. Findings suggested that primary cutaneous lymphomas/pseudolymphomas have distinctive dermoscopic features regardless of immunohistochemical subtype.
