Buse DC, Fanning KM, Reed ML, et al. – In the Chronic Migraine Epidemiology and Outcomes Study—which was undertaken between September 2012 and November 2013 (n = 13,064)—researchers evaluated the impact of migraine on significant life domains, and contrasted variations between respondents with episodic and chronic migraine and among sexes. About 16.8% and 17.8% of respondents not recently in a romantic relationship and in a relationship but not living together, respectively, suggested that headaches had contributed to relationship issues. Of those in a relationship and living together, 3.2% stated that they had chosen not to have children, postponed having children, or had fewer children due to migraine. Among the individuals who responded to career/finance items, 32.7% and 32.1% indicated that headaches negatively impacted ≥ 1 career area and endorsed worry regarding long-term financial security because of migraine, respectively. Thus, according to these study findings, migraine may negatively impact many crucial aspects of life. Among those with chronic migraine vs those with episodic migraine, burden was constantly reported as higher, although few variations were noted among the sexes.
