Clinical Cardiology Aug 16, 2019

Wang H, et al. - Researchers analyzed 14 relevant studies to determine the prevalence, underlying risk factors, and reasons of the 30-day readmission rates following acute myocardial infarction (AMI). They carried out pooled analyses by using random-effect models, and estimated the prevalence of and causes for 30-day readmission by using means and 95% CIs. The range for 30-day readmission rate post-AMI was from 11% to 14%. The main causes for 30-day readmission post-AMI were cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular events. Significant risk factors for 30-day readmission were common co-morbidities such as kidney disease, heart failure, and diabetes mellitus.
