Gheisari M, Faraji Z, Dadras MS, et al. - In this ten-year retrospective cohort study involving 312 patients, researchers assessed the effectiveness and safety of steroid pulse therapy in treating pemphigus vulgaris. Participants in the study were patients with pemphigus vulgaris who had received methylprednisolone pulse therapy. Investigators found that 83 patients had complete remission off therapy and 152 patients had complete therapy remission. At the time of the study follow-up, about 29 patients had pemphigus lesions and 26.8% of the remaining patients had minimal therapy. In severe cases, methylprednisolone pulse therapy might be considered as an option for proper pemphigus vulgaris control. It may result in shorter hospitalization periods and decrease the need for long-term high-dose oral steroid treatment.
