The effect of using tadalafil 5 mg/day on neutrophil–lymphocyte and platelet–lymphocyte ratios in mild-medium and severe erectile dysfunction patients and comparison of clinical response
Andrologia Jun 28, 2019
Demirci A, et al. - A total of 143 patients were retrospectively assessed by the researchers in order to investigate the relation between NLR (neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio) and PLR (platelet-lymphocyte ratio) rates and the severity of ED (erectile dysfunction) and the effect of tadalafil 5 mg/day on them. Sixty-three patients with ED were randomized in study groups and 80 men who were not diagnosed with ED were as the control group. In the severe ED group higher mean age and median Charlson Comorbidity Indexes were noticed. In the control group, lower mean NLR and PLR values were observed, whereas, in the study group, a decrease in NLR and PLR values with the elevation in the IIEF 5 scores was recognized. Further, the systemic inflammation lowered and the clinical symptoms progressed in patients who used tadalafil 5 mg/day. However, more prospective and randomized studies would be required.
