Prasitlumkum N, et al. - Whether contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is related to new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), was investigated via a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis. From inception to April 2018, MEDLINE and EMBASE databases were comprehensively searched for published cohort studies that involved comparisons between ACS patient with CIN vs without CIN with regard to new-onset AF following cardiac catheterization. Overall five studies with 5,640 ACS patients, including 1,102 with CIN and 4,538 without CIN, were analyzed. According to the findings, contrast-induced nephropathy was related to new-onset AF threefold among patients with ACS following cardiac catheterization.
