Relation of patellofemoral joint alignment, morphology, and radiographic osteoarthritis to frequent anterior knee pain: The MOST study

Arthritis Care & Research Jun 20, 2019

Macri EM, et al. - Via The Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST) cohort study of 110 individuals with, or at risk for, knee osteoarthritis (OA), the researchers intended to evaluate the relation of patellofemoral (PF) alignment and trochlear morphology, as well as PFOA and tibiofemoral OA, to anterior knee pain (AKP). No association of PF alignment, morphology, and tibiofemoral OA with unilateral AKP was observed with the within-person knee- matched approach. Radiographic PFOA and pain were found related to each other suggesting features of OA, more than mechanical features and it could contribute to localized symptoms.
