Jia X, et al. -Via a study on identified patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease within the Veterans Affairs health care system who were on statin therapy (n=813,887; n=52,583 new statin users), the researchers intended to assess the relationship of routine laboratory evaluation with lipid panels with greater statin adherence. A modest but significant increase in statin adherence was observed among atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease patients on statins overall and among new statin users in association with routine, guideline-directed completion of lipid panels.
