High sensitivity C-reactive protein as a predictive of intima-media thickness in patients with end-stage renal disease on regular hemodialysis

International Journal of General Medicine Jun 17, 2019

Lestariningsih L, et al. - Among end-stage renal disease (ESRD) subject, researchers by conducting this cohort study at the Hemodialysis (HD) Unit of Dr. Kariadi Hospital and Telogorejo Hospital Semarang between October 2009 and April 2010 identified the predictive of intima-media thickness (IMT) progression. Participants in the study were 78 subjects with regular HD, follow-up 6 months. A correlation was found between high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level and the progression of the carotid artery wall. Findings revealed that hsCRP is a significant predictive of IMT progression at hemodialysis subject. In hemodialysis subject, IL −174 G/C gene and eNOS gene polymorphism are not a significant predictive of IMT progression.
