Association of serum retinol-binding protein 4 levels and the risk of incident type 2 diabetes in subjects with prediabetes
Diabetes Care Jun 16, 2019
Fan J, et al. - Among 1,011 Chinese candidates with prediabetes (average age 55.6 ± 7.2 years), researchers examined the relationship of serum retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) levels and risk for the development of type 2 diabetes using the Cox proportional hazards model. According to the American Diabetes Association 2010 criteria, incident type 2 diabetes was diagnosed. One hundred fifty-three participants developed incident type 2 diabetes during a median follow-up period of 3.1 years. According to this population-based prospective study, there is a U-shaped link between serum RBP4 levels and the risk of incident type 2 diabetes in prediabetes subjects.
