Tae BS, et al. - Researchers utilized the National Health Insurance Service database representative of the entire Korean adult prostate cancer (PC) population (n = 206,735), to assess the link between androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and cerebral infarction in patients with PC. Using propensity score-matched Cox proportional hazards models and Kaplan-Meier survival analyses, they estimated adjusted hazard ratios for cerebral infarction related to ADT. Overall 36,146 PC patients were included, with 24,069 men (66.6%) who underwent ADT. Contributors to cerebral infarction were older age, hypertension, diabetes, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, renal disease, dementia, and atrial fibrillation. In this nationwide population-based study, no link was evident between ADT and cerebral infarction after adjusting for potential confounders.
