Van Katwyk SR, et al. – Researchers performed a systematic review and evidence map to assist governments in decision-making with respect to programs that may reduce antimicrobial resistance. Specifically, they identified, described, and assessed the full range of evaluated government policy options to reduce antimicrobial use in humans. It is the first study to provide policy makers with evidence on specific government interventions addressing antimicrobial resistance. Overall, they identified a variety of policy options at the governments' disposal to respond to the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. Based on their findings, the investigators concluded that governments should ensure that policy interventions on antimicrobial resistance are analyzed using rigorous study designs and that study results are published.
