Access to palliative care for cancer patients between diagnosis and death: A national cohort study

Janah A, et al. - Through a nationwide retrospective cohort study using data of 313,059 patients diagnosed with cancer taken from the French national health system database, the researchers sought to understand the prevalence of access to inpatient palliative care and associated patient-level factors and to determine the time between the access to palliative care and death. Patients who died within 2 years after diagnosis, were noticed to have access to inpatient palliative care. Although, late access during the final month of life in the disease trajectory was noted.
