Comparison between home and ambulatory morning blood pressure and morning hypertension in their reproducibility and associations with vascular injury
Hypertension May 24, 2019
Guo QH, et al. - Researchers compared the reproducibility of ambulatory vs home blood pressure (BP) monitoring for morning BP assessment as well as associations with vascular injury in referred untreated outpatients (n=1,049). The study sample comprised of 51.9% women and had an average age of 51 years who had undergone 24-hour ambulatory and 7-day home BP monitoring and vascular assessments. In this study, the general reproducibility of morning BP was evident, regardless of the evaluation methods and definitions. Also, a significant link of morning BP with vascular indices was observed. Better reproducibility and stronger correlation with vascular indices were displayed by home morning BP, which makes it preferred over ambulatory measurements.
