Long-term follow-up of urethral reconstruction for blunt urethral injury at a young age: Urinary and sexual quality of life outcomes
Journal of Pediatric Urology Apr 11, 2019
Baradaran N, et al. - Investigators examined 68 candidates to evaluate the long-term urinary outcomes, sexual function, and quality of life (QOL) of subjects who underwent urethroplasty for blunt urethral trauma in childhood between 1978 and 2013. They observed an association between urethroplasty after blunt urethral injury and a high long-term success rate with a low rate of long-term urinary as well as sexual outcomes in adulthood. They noted no record of urinary incontinence with force of urine stream (1 strongest, 4 weakest), 2 (1.5–2). They recorded the median ejaculatory function score (0 worst, 15 normal) of 14 (13–14.75). They also reported 3 candidates with <30° penile curvature not interfering with sex.
