Disease burden in osteoarthritis (OA) is similar to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at initial rheumatology visit and significantly greater 6-months later

Arthritis & Rheumatology Mar 25, 2019

Chua JR, et al. - Researchers assessed the disease burden in osteoarthritis (OA) as per MDHAQ/RAPID3 (multidimensional health assessment questionnaire/routine assessment of patient index data) at the beginning and 6-month follow-up visits vs rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as a benchmark for high disease burden. They noted higher age, body mass index (BMI) and disease duration among OA vs RA cases. OA or RA have comparable MDHAQ/RAPID3 at the initial visit, but they are higher in OA 6 months later, reflecting superior RA treatments.
