Coronary angiography after cardiac arrest without ST-segment elevation

New England Journal of Medicine Mar 22, 2019

Lemkes JS, et al. - In this multicenter trial, researchers analyzed the role of immediate coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients who were effectively resuscitated following cardiac arrest in the absence of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). For this investigation, 552 patients who had cardiac arrest without signs of STEMI were randomized to either immediate coronary angiography or coronary angiography, which was delayed until after neurologic recovery. The data presented in this work showed immediate angiography was not better than delayed angiography in terms of overall survival at 90 days in these patients.
