Multiple cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in immunosuppressed vs immunocompetent patients

JAMA Mar 20, 2019

Gonzalez JL, et al. - Investigators researched the relationship between multiple squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) (the second most common skin cancer in the US) and the risk of poor consequences in a cohort of primarily immunocompetent subjects. SCC is considered a significant determinant of morbidity in immunosuppressed cases. They observed an higher risk of developing a subsequent SCC after the first incidence. They found a 65- to 100-fold increase in the incidence of SCC among immunosuppressed individuals.
