Statins and pancreatic cancer risk in patients with chronic pancreatitis: A Danish nationwide population-based cohort study

International Journal of Cancer Mar 19, 2019

Kirkegard J, et al. - In this nationwide, population-based, cohort study that included Danish patients who received a diagnosis of incident chronic pancreatitis between January 1, 1996, and December 31, 2012, researchers assessed the relationship between statin use and risk of pancreatic cancer. They recorded 153 pancreatic cancers over 60,365 person-years of follow-up. In addition, the unadjusted incidence rate ratios comparing statin users with non-users was 1.00. Overall, the investigators suggested that statin use was not correlated with pancreatic cancer risk in outpatients with chronic pancreatitis.
