Elkassabany NM, et al. - In this prospective, randomized, unblinded study, researchers examined 159 candidates to estimate the analgesic benefits and physiotherapy (PT) consequences of single-shot Adductor canal block (ACB) to 2 different regimens of infusion of the continuous ACB ie, 24-hour and 48-hour infusion. They recorded 21% of patients describing severe pain on postoperative day number 2 (POD 2) for the single-shot group, 14% for the 24-hour block group, whereas 12% for the 48-hour block group. They found no obvious benefit of the 24-hour or 48-hour infusions over the single-shot ACB for the primary endpoint of the study. All the candidates had comparable opioid usage, length of hospital stay, and functional outcomes.
