Quantitative characteristics of consecutive lengthening episodes in early-onset scoliosis (EOS) patients with dual growth rods
Spine Mar 10, 2019
Agarwal A, et al. - Researchers investigated 47 individuals to assess the quantitative aspects of consecutive lengthening episodes in early-onset scoliosis (EOS) cases with dual growth rods. They recorded an increase in the distraction force by 268% with a 120% rise in the early stages (distractions episodes 1–6) and an incline of 68% in the later stages (distractions episodes 6–11). They noted a cumulative decrease of 47% in the length over 11 distraction episodes, with 34% and 20% in the early and later stages, respectively. But, they did not find any correlation between distraction force and the length and sex, age, the extent of deformity, or the extent of correction.
