Secular trends in the association between obesity and hypertension among adults in the United States, 1999–2014
European Journal of Internal Medicine Mar 06, 2019
Ryu S, et al. - Using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, researchers analyzed the secular trends in the connection between obesity and hypertension among American adults between 1999 and 2014. The noted a significant, positive linear trend in the association between overweight/obesity and hypertension from 1999 to 2014, and found that the link between overweight/obesity and hypertension grew stronger over time. Continued monitoring of temporal changes related to obesity and hypertension is required to monitor how changes in the risk of chronic disease might underlie such changes, noted the authors.
