Antidiabetic medications and the risk of endometrial cancer in patients

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation Mar 01, 2019

Tian J, et al. - Considering the recent epidemiological studies suggesting reduced risks of cancer and cancer mortality in correlation with antidiabetic medications (ADMs) in patients with type 2 diabetes, researchers investigated the correlations between metformin, sulfonylureas (SUs), insulin, and endometrial cancer (EC) risk in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) via this systematic review and meta-analysis. From PubMed and EMBASE database, researchers identified six studies (2 retrospective cohorts and 4 case-control trials) reporting EC in 4,739 cases among 510,344 DM patients. The data suggest no meaningful influence of metformin, SUs, and insulin on the risk of EC.
