New anti-aging formulas are always on the hot wait list in the market from Mumbai to LA.

Breakthrough in understanding human skin cells offers a pathway for new anti-ageing treatments.breakthrough in understanding human skin cells offers a pathway for new anti-ageing treatments. Starting with botox which stood out in the market as the best anti-aging treatment option to different surgical interventions to treat aging skin, scientists are still in the race to discover new materials, compounds, pain-free and safer methods to help people fight against aging.

Read on to find out some of the recent breakthroughs in ant-aging.

1. Methylene Blue- A Powerful Antioxidant

In a recent study, the cells treated with methylene blue showed a decreased expression of p16 gene and senescence associated beta-galactosidase gene, both of which are indicators for aging.

Different types of stress can cause the formation of free radicals in the body. Oxidation due to the reactive oxygen species in skin cells causes damage resulting in dullness, fine lines, and saggy skin. Methylene blue helps in reducing this damage hence minimizing the characteristics of skin aging.

2. Can Sound Waves Do It?

For ages, ultrasound is known for diagnostic purposes but scientists have found an added advantage of these sound waves. Focusing the ultrasound waves on a small part of tissue generates heat causing a thermal injury at a site which is predetermined in the tissue by the surgeon. The temperature causes localized collagen contraction leaving the skin firmer than before and also helps in the formation of new collagen.

3. No Pain But Assured Gain!

This treatment option has out thrown the old saying “no pain no gain”. Dermatologists are showing that soft tissue fillers can be used for making the texture of the skin smoother, lifting the fine lines near the eyes, to make the skin look fuller near the jawline and lips. They even help in concealing the scars that have developed due to any injury or any marks due to acne helping the patients to undergo an easier pain-free process for anti-aging therapy.

4. Going The Natural Way...

Increasing evidences are showing that plant cell culture derived secondary metabolites are biocompatible to human cells and can be increasingly used in rejuvenation cosmetics. These materials have redox-balancing properties which provide multifaceted skin protection from parameters which lead to skin aging. Formulations from the derivates of meristem plant cells claiming anti-aging potential are in clinical trials and can soon be expected in the market.

5. Calcium Hydroxylapatite (Caha)

Calcium Hydroxylapatite molecules are intergral part of our bones and teeth. Recent studies show its capacity to help in anti-aging process. It is administered as a suspension in a polysaccharide gel carrier. The CaHA molecules have shown to induce fibroblast growth and collagen production which helps in skin rejuvenation and revitalization. Several investigations have shown CaHA as safe, reliable facial filler having long-lasting benefits without much side-effects.

6. New Discovery to Battle Against Aging

Adipose-derived stem cells secrete various cytokines and growth factors which help in managing and controlling the damage in the surrounding cells. ADSCs can be obtained from liposuction of adipose tissue and can be cultured in large scale. Injection of these ADSCs and their secretory factors can be a potential treatment strategy.

7. Peels of Certain Fruits

Researchers have shown the presence of antioxidant phenolics in the peels of litchi, rambutan and tamarind in abundance. These phenolics help in the antagonizing the ill effects of different free radicals generated. Superoxide anion radical scavaging activity has been found associated with the seed coat of tamarind making it to be an active and potential anti-aging treatment option naturally.

8. Useful “Acids” Can Help

Hydroxycinnamic acids and its derivatives are phenolic acids found in a wide variety of species including plants, fruits, vegetables, tea, cocoa etc. Its derivates and the compound itself have anti-collagenase, anti-tyrosinase, and antioxidant properties. Due to its low stability and easy oxidation nature, researchers are trying to microencapsulate it instead of using it in topical applications. The usage of these compounds is yet to be validated and approved.

These recent advancements for the treatment of aging skin are coming out into the market with high expectations. Hope they prove useful for the eagerly waiting people.
