TN government tells HC: Cannot stop sale of online medicines

India Legal Nov 22, 2018

The Tamil Nadu government on November 20 informed the High Court that it does not have any power to stop online sales of medicines as there are no strong rules or regulations against it.

The advocate general who presented the statement mentioned that there are no regulations controlling e-pharmacies in the state and therefore, the high court would not be able to prohibit medicines sold online. Additionally, it was stated that the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules comes under central government jurisdiction and the draft regarding online sale of medicines is under consideration.
