Impact of healthy lifestyles on cancer risk in the Chinese population
Cancer Feb 19, 2019
Wang X, et al. - In three prospective cohort studies including 101,208 Chinese adults from the general population, how clustering of healthy lifestyle factors impacts cancer risk was examined. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% confidential intervals (95% CIs). A 6% (range, 3%-9%) reduced risk of cancer overall was reported relative to each additional healthy lifestyle factor. Ultimately, a reduced risk of cancer incidence among Chinese adults was observed in association with adherence to the clustering of healthy lifestyle factors. Findings call for greater efforts to enhance the adoption of multiple healthy lifestyle behaviors to lower cancer burden.
