Significant relationship between the LAT1 expression pattern and chemoresistance in ovarian clear cell carcinoma

Virchows Archiv Jan 17, 2019

Sato K, et al. - Researchers studied the L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) expression in 245 patients with ovarian carcinoma by immunohistochemistry using tissue microarray to determine the significance of LAT1 in prognosis and resistance to chemotherapy in ovarian carcinoma. In 85 (34.7%) patients, high LAT1 expression was detected. The high expression ratio of LAT1 in clear cell carcinoma was significantly high and low in serous carcinoma compared with other histological types. High expression of LAT1 was also found to be associated with chemotherapy resistance, particularly in clear cell carcinoma. According to findings, LAT1 is associated not only with poor ovarian carcinoma prognosis but also with chemoresistance in ovarian carcinoma.
