The effectiveness of immediate implant placement for single tooth replacement compared to delayed implant placement: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Clinical Periodontology Jan 14, 2019
Cosyn J, et al. – Via data analysis of eight relevant clinical studies, researchers compared the efficiency of immediate implant placement (IIP) and delayed implant placement (DIP) for single tooth replacement. They observed a significantly lower implant survival for IIP (94.9%) vs DIP (98.9%) when postoperative antibiotics were not administered to individuals. They assessed probing depth and aesthetic outcomes by the pink esthetic score and noted similar results for both IIP and DIP. They concluded that IIP carried a higher risk for early implant loss than DIP.
