Comparison between negative T waves characteristics in acute coronary syndrome and pulmonary embolism

Journal of Electrocardiology Jul 20, 2018

Javanshir E, et al. - In this retrospective study including 97 patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE) and 200 with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) admitted to the emergency ward of a tertiary heart center, researchers examined differences between ACS and APE in patients presenting primarily with abnormal negative T waves on their electrocardiogram (ECG) at admission. For all patients, they also measured the depth of the inverted precordial T waves along with the assessment of distribution of negative T waves. Findings showed the utility of total magnitude of negative T in left precordial leads divided by right precordial leads to differentiate APE from ACS.
