A positive correlation between blood glucose level and bone mineral density in Taiwan

Archives of Osteoporosis Jul 20, 2018

Li KH, et al. - In a Taiwanese population, authors evaluated the impact of blood glucose on BMD and possible interactions with age, sex, and BMI. Higher BMD at the lumbar spine and femoral neck were seen in both obese and non-obese people with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) vs healthy subjects. Moreover, findings suggested a significant decrease in the prevalence of osteoporosis with blood glucose and HbA1c. They noted an association of T2DM with lower odds of osteoporosis in both obese and non-obese.
