Trichomonas vaginalis infection-associated risk of cervical cancer: A meta-analysis
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Jun 24, 2018
Yang S, et al. - From 1985 to 2016, relevant data were identified through an extensive search of Medline, Cochrane database, Google Scholar, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure in order to determine the connection between trichomoniasis and cervical cancer. Researchers included 17 eligible articles that covered 7715 individuals with cervical lesions and 67,598 controls. Findings from the present meta-analysis suggested that individuals infected with trichomonas vaginalis had a higher risk of cervical cancer, particularly co-infected with Human Papilloma Virus. Data reported that there was significant regional and racial variation in the association between trichomonas vaginalis infection and risk of cervical cancer.
