An improved ESBL detection test utilizing aztreonam + clavulanate
Journal of Clinical Microbiology Oct 23, 2017
Thomson GK, et al. - Researchers performed this study to compare ESBL detection by the CLSI disk test (CLSI), a boronic acid supplemented CLSI disk test (CLSI + BA), and an aztreonam + clavulanate disk test (ATM + CA). Here, in comparison to CLSI and CLSI + BA tests, the ATM + CA test detected ESBLs more accurately. This was particularly observed with isolates co-producing an AmpC or metallo-β-lactamase.
