Low albumin levels are associated with mortality risk in hospitalized patients

Akirov A, et al. – Prognostic significance of alterations in albumin levels, from admission to throughout hospital stay, was assessed. Findings reported a link between low albumin levels on admission and increased short– and long–term mortality. Also, mortality risk was reported to be lower in those with normalized albumin levels before discharge versus those with hypoalbuminemia before discharge.
