The protective effect of helmet use in motorcycle and bicycle accidents: A propensity score–matched study based on a trauma registry system

Kuo SCH, et al. – This study was meant to analyze the protective effect of helmet use during motorcycle and bicycle accidents. Findings highlighted a protective impact of helmet use for adult motorcyclists involved in traffic accidents, while no such protective effect was noticed for bicyclists involved in collisions. Essentially, findings underscored that use of motorcycle helmets was associated with a decline in mortality rates and the risk of head injuries.
