Community acquired acute kidney injury: Findings from a large population cohort

Holmes J, et al. – The association between incident community acquired (CA) electronic acute kidney injury (AKI) alerts (CA–AKI), previous contact with a hospital or primary care and clinical outcomes were evaluated during this study. Approximately half of all patients presenting with CA–AKI were known to medical services, the majority of which reported a recent measurement of the renal function in a hospital setting. This indicated that AKI for at least some of these could potentially be predictable and/or avoidable.
