Effects of physical activity calorie equivalent food labelling to reduce food selection and consumption: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled studies

Daley AJ, et al. - By analyzing relevant randomised controlled trials and experimental studies, researchers investigated how the selection, purchase or intake of food/drinks is influenced by physical activity calorie equivalent (PACE) food labelling, which aims to afford the public with information regarding the amount of physical activity needed to expend the number of kilocalories in food/drinks to promote healthier food choices and decrease disease. The studies that were eligible for inclusion were 15 in total. According to the current evidence gathered via this analysis, the consequences of PACE food labelling may include a reduced number of kilocalories selected from menus and decreased number of kilocalories/grams of food consumed by the public, relative to other types of food labelling/no labelling.
