Developmental enamel defects are associated with early childhood caries: Case-control study
International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry Oct 12, 2019
Corrêa-Faria P, et al. - In this case-control study, researchers compared the frequency of early childhood caries (ECC) in children with and without developmental enamel defects (DED) and verified their connection with sociodemographic factors. This investigation was conducted with Brazilian children aged one to five years. The case group consisted of 98 ECC children and the control group consisted of 98 ECC-free children. According to findings, ECC was more frequent among children from families with poorer socioeconomic conditions in the bivariate analysis. The final logistical model demonstrated that monthly household income less than two Brazilian minimum salaries and children with DED were more likely to have ECC.
