Prognostic significance of elevated pre-treatment serum CA-125 levels in patients with stage I ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Jun 17, 2019
Nasioudis D, et al. - Via a large cohort study of 1,156 patients with early stage sex cord – stromal tumors (SCSTs), the researchers intended to investigate the prognostic significance of elevated pre-operative serum CA-125 values. Patients with elevated pre-treatment values of CA-125 in comparison with those with normal values had worse overall survival (OS). Furthermore, after controlling for patient age, the presence of medical co-morbidities, tumor histology, size and the performance of lymphadenectomy, elevated pre-treatment CA-125 levels were still associated with a worse survival.
