Synthetic graft compared with allograft reconstruction for extensor mechanism disruption in total knee arthroplasty: A multicenter cohort study
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Jun 13, 2019
Wood TJ, et al. - Via a multicenter cohort study of 27 identified cases, the contributors sought to compare the outcomes among extensor mechanism allograft with synthetic graft reconstruction. Retrospectively identification of patients who underwent extensor mechanism reconstruction using either allograft or synthetic graft was carried out. Graft failure post synthetic reconstruction was found out to be zero. Higher cost of allograft significantly noticed in comparison with the synthetic graft cost. In postoperative extensor lag, graft failure, revision surgery, and cost when compared with allograft benefit of synthetic reconstruction for extensor mechanism disruption was noticed.
