Sperm chromatin structure assay high DNA stainability sperm as a marker of early miscarriage after intracytoplasmic sperm injection
Fertility and Sterility May 02, 2019
Jerre E, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective cohort study of 1,602 pregnancies after 832 in vitro fertilization (IVF) and 770 intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatments, in order to determine the predictive value of high DNA stainability (HDS), as assessed by the sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA), for the risk of early miscarriage after IVF with ICSI. Outcomes revealed HDS >15% to be related to a small but increased risk of early miscarriage compared with HDS ≤15%. Only after ICSI, but not after IVF, this increased risk was seen. These findings suggest the possible utility of HDS as a predictor of an increased risk of miscarriage in ICSI treatments.
