Anterior atrophic mandible restoration using cancellous bone block allograft
Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research Mar 15, 2019
Chaushu L, et al. - The employment of allograft cancellous bone blocks for anterior atrophic mandible augmentation was assessed by authors among 14 candidates for a mean follow-up of 26 ± 17 months. They noted mean bone gain of 5 ± 0.5 mm horizontally, and 2 ± 0.5 mm vertically. They recorded the block and implant survival rates were 91.6% and 100%, respectively. They found 42%, the mean fraction of the newly formed bone; 41% for marrow and connective tissue; and 17% for residual cancellous block-allograft. They suggested the positive potential of cancellous bone block allografts for reconstruction of Kennedy Class IV partial edentulism in the anterior mandible.
