Evaluation of the serum levels of galectin-3 in patients with oral lichen planus disease
Oral Diseases Jan 10, 2019
Ghapanchi J, et al. - In this study, investigators analyzed to estimate the serum levels of galectin-3 in oral lichen planus (OLP) disease and also to compare the outcome with that noted in healthy candidates. They observed higher galectin-3 serum levels in cases with OLP. They also notified significantly elevated levels in individuals with atrophic/erosive lesions than those of reticular, but no link was found with age and gender. They concluded the raised levels of galectin-3 in OLP as a future tool to expand the information related to possible etiology of the infection. It also played a role in differentiating the atrophic/erosive lesions from reticular ones.
